Welcome to Bitterroot Learning Center

WHO WE ARE

Bitterroot Learning Center was born out of necessity for students and families in the Bitterroot Valley. Ravalli County is home to two of the highest-ranked public schools in Montana. Yet at the same time, surrounding school districts are not–sadly. Many of those students fall behind quickly, pass through grade levels, etc.

Parents and families are looking for solutions, and many are popping up in the valley. The majority of families, with public school aged children in their home, opt to not place their students in the local public schools.

Bitterroot Learning Center was born out of this gap. Parents and families are not only looking for solutions, they are looking to provide the best education they can for their students…now.

Anne Marie Gurney, Montana certified teacher, created Bitterroot Learning Center out of her experience teaching her own children at home as well as working in the public education space for the last seven years. Tools are readily available to prevent students from falling behind. In fact, the tools are aplenty out there to provide “above and beyond” the current base standards for education.

Bitterroot Learning Center is not only a place to fill gaps, but to also propel student success.

WHAT WE ARE

Bitterroot Learning Center is two-fold.

First, it is an “after school”, personalized teaching environment to provide extra learning for students. This environment can include: supports in current learning, extra supports for recognized gaps, extra learning not included in current state standards (ie. current Montana math standards do not include coins and money math for primary grades).

Second, Bitterroot Learning Center offers limited space for a “homeschool” option allowing students and families to experience education taught by a Montana certified teacher allowing students to progress quickly, do more than current public school standards, and work at their own pace.
